Dennis Sorochuk

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beautiful Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle and Grandfather, Dennis Sorochuk, who passed away at the age of 73 on August 4, 2024.

Dennis was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan to Orest Sorochuk and Victoria Shewchuk. He was the eldest of four children and took on the role of big brother to his three sisters. Dennis moved to Edmonton, Alberta to pursue his University Degree, and went on to become a Professional Electrical Engineer. His career lasted 33 years before he retired in 2014.

Dennis met the love of his life Sandie during the Calgary Stampede and soon after started a family in Calgary, welcoming their son, Jason.

Dennis enjoyed an active lifestyle, spending his weekends on the ski hill or golf course. Dennis and Jason would often have adventures together without telling his wife. Whether they were quadding next to a volcano or jumping off the Stratosphere in Las Vegas, they always had fun together.

Calgary was home, but Dennis’s heart was in Penticton, BC, where he would spend numerous years vacationing with friends and family near the beautiful Skaha Lake. Countless evenings were spent laughing and hanging out with his close friends Bill, Dianne, Greg and Deb.

Family was the most important part of Dennis’s life, and some of his favorite memories were spent sharing a Ukrainian dinner for the holidays, watching his favorite shows with Sandie or enjoying the standing family Sunday dinners. Dennis was always there to talk, share his wisdom, or have a debate.

Dennis will be fondly remembered by all that loved him for his subtle sense of humour and big heart.

Dennis was predeceased by his father, Orest, and his mother, Victoria. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sandie; his son Jason (Brandie); his sisters Marvie Giordano, Cheryl (Dorian) Landon-Snyder and Isabel (Rob) Christian; his nephew and nieces Nick, Kathryn and Kindra; and his grandchildren Emma and Caiden.
