Debra (Debi) Lefaivre Obituary

Debra Ann Lefaivre, affectionately known as Debi, peacefully departed this life on April 4, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was 68 years old. Debi will forever be remembered as a beacon of love and strength, leaving behind a profound legacy of compassion and inspiration that touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Debi assumed the role of matriarch of her family following the untimely passing of our beloved parents, Charmaine and Joseph, 48 and 40 years ago, respectively. Throughout her life, Debi remained a source of support and affection for her siblings, nurturing deep bonds that will endure beyond her physical presence. As the eldest to 10 siblings, Jacqueline (Jackie), Daniel (Dan), Lawrence (Larry), Francis (Fran), Merceil (CeCe), Nicole (CoCo), Michael (Mike), Camille (Cammy), Christopher (Chris), Adrienne (Renee), and their spouses and partners, her love knew no bounds.  This love extended warmly to her multigenerational nieces, nephews, and countless friends, who will hold dear the memories of laughter, love, and shared experiences.

Debi also held close relationships with dear friends who have since passed, having served as a devoted advocate and guardian to Wanda Thoreson for over two decades, and forming strong bonds with individuals like James Hicks and Kent Ash, among others.

Debi's empathy reached far beyond her immediate circle. Throughout her remarkable career spanning over 45 years at Vecova (VRRI), she devoted herself tirelessly to championing and aiding individuals with disabilities, embodying the values of inclusivity and dignity in every facet of her life. Debi's commitment to serving others through various community and volunteer organizations, including her recent involvement with the ALS Society, is a testament to her exceptional character and kindness. Through her volunteer work, Debi has formed meaningful connections and friendships, demonstrating her generosity in building strong communities. Her legacy is an inspiration to us all.

In addition to her devotion to others, Debi cherished her beloved pets, Poppy and Tinky (Tink), whose care and companionship brought her immeasurable joy. Following her wishes, they will remain together, surrounded by love and affection.

A celebration of Debi's life will be announced in the near future, providing an opportunity for family and friends to come together, honour her memory, and share the countless stories and experiences that illuminate the impact of her remarkable life.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the Foothills Hospital Cardiology Department, as well as the numerous doctors, nurses, caregivers, and friends who provided compassionate care and support to Debi throughout her journey.

In this time of remembrance, we invite friends and family to share their favorite memories, photos, or anecdotes about Debi.

A celebration of Debi's life will be announced for family and friends to gather together and share cherished memories that reflect the joy Debi brought into the lives of everyone who knew and loved her.
