David E. Morisset

It is with sadness we announce the sudden passing of David Morisset after a short illness at the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary, AB on July 27, 2025. David was the son of Bruce and Patricia Morisset (née Niwa) and brother to Michael Morisset.

David grew up in Calgary until age 9 before moving to Acadia Valley with his family to help out and run “The Store”. Though in the beginning he was not all that excited to be leaving the city, he found through playing baseball and hockey that he quite enjoyed the move to the country. He returned to Calgary in 1994.

David was, and will always be, an avid sports fan. Whether it was a baseball, football or hockey game, you can bet he would be able to tell you play by play of what happened and when. He showed his love for sports with a passion for collecting and creating sports memorabilia that he took to various sales to share with others.

David will be lovingly remembered by his brother Michael (Cindy) Morisset; nieces Amy (Michael) Bonnell and Lexie (Michael) Becker; and great-nieces and nephews Alexa, Colby, Jackson and Willow; aunts Elaine (Ron) Skene, Wendy Niwa, Pat Niwa, Gay Alderman (Ewan Cameron) and Denise Brooks; uncle Jim as well as many more cousins and family. He was pre-deceased by his mother Patricia and father Bruce; grandparents Gertrude and Victor Niwa, and Alice and Bert Alderman; uncles Bernard, Murray, and Ivan; and aunts Donna and Robin.

A Memorial will be arranged for a future date to be determined by the family.
