David George Allen

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for his life that we announce the passing of David George Allen, who left this world peacefully on June 30, 2025, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 77.

Born in Edmonton on May 24, 1948, David was a man whose life was defined by quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering love. After settling in Calgary, he built a beautiful life rooted in devotion to family, community, and the joy of shared laughter. In 1988, he founded Kid Gloves Courier, a company he led for two decades with hard work, humility, and steadfast integrity — earning the respect of all who knew him.

David’s heart was steeped in service. A proud Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, he gave generously of his time and spirit to St. Cecilia’s Parish, where he found both purpose and peace. From 2013 to 2018, he played a cherished role in the Live-In community, serving as a back-up and shepherd — guiding others with compassion, patience, and a kind word always at the ready.

Music was one of David’s greatest gifts and greatest joys. A talented pianist and singer, he filled rooms with melody and hearts with joy. He believed deeply in the healing power of laughter and shared it freely, always quick with a story, a joke, or a twinkle in his eye. His generosity — of time, of wisdom, of love — knew no bounds. His greatest pride and delight were his children and grandchildren, whose lives were immeasurably enriched by his presence, guidance, and love.

David is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Alida; his beloved children Catherine, Stephanie, Nicholas, Calida, Jasmine, Dan, and Desi; and his twelve treasured grandchildren, and one great-grandchild who lit up his life. He also leaves behind his sister Terry and brother Doug, extended family, many lifelong friends, and all who were fortunate enough to be touched by his warmth.

Vigil Prayers will be held at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church (321 90 Ave SE) on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at 7:00pm. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church on Monday, July 7, 2025 at 11:00 am with a reception to follow. Interment will take place at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens at 2:00 pm.

David’s legacy is one of love, service, music, and joy — a life well lived, a soul deeply cherished. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
