Darryl Ernest Wagner

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Darryl Wagner, beloved husband, father, and friend, who passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the age of 84.

Darryl was born in Camrose on July 6, 1940 to Ernest and Helen Wagner of Ohaton, where he spent his youth farming with his father. A strong student, he went on to become a proud graduate of the University of Alberta, earning his degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1962. He had a distinguished career at ATCO Gas, where he worked for over 30 years, retiring in 1996. After retirement, Darryl's passion for his field continued as he embarked on a fulfilling second career as an oil and gas consultant, contributing his expertise for another 18 years in both Canada and the United States.

Darryl was deeply respected for his knowledge, work ethic, and integrity, leaving a lasting impact on those who had the pleasure of working alongside him.

He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Betty and a proud father to his children, Devin (Barbara) and Kim, all of Calgary. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Barbara Modrzejewski (George) and nephews Colby and Brett, all of Lethbridge. He will be forever remembered for his warmth, kindness, and humour.

The family would like to extend our gratitude to Dr. McKenna and the unit 32 staff at the Foothills hospital for their dedication and care, as well as Dr. Stefanek of Crowfoot Village Family Practice and her team. 

A gathering will be held for family and friends at a later date.
