It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, Darrell Michael Hayden.

Those who knew him often described him as a gentle soul—kind-hearted, humble, and always willing to lend a helping hand.

Although life was not always easy for him, he faced it with kindness, humility, and a quiet resilience. He never lost his compassion for others or his sense of humour, a gift he shared with his family.

From an early age, he had a naturally curious mind. As a child, he loved taking apart electronics to understand how they worked, only to patiently put them back together again. He found joy in the outdoors and had a deep appreciation for nature. Whether he was fishing, camping, skiing, or simply exploring, he was happiest surrounded by the beauty and peace of the natural world.

He truly enjoyed spending time with family, especially his niece and nephews playing games and having family time together. He always loved cooking and specially making cheesecake for family. He loved to decorate the tiny lobby of his little apartment building with Halloween and Christmas decorations and plant sunflowers in the wee garden in the parking lot.

He was a wizard at bringing back orchids from the brink of failure and getting them to flower and thrive again.

Darrell never asked for much and lived a simple and humble life. Even when he had very little himself, he was always willing to help others. His generosity, quiet acts of kindness, and caring nature reflected the genuine person he was.

His journey was sometimes difficult to understand, but one thing never wavered Darrell was deeply loved by his family. Through every chapter of his life, that love remained constant.

Darrell will be profoundly missed by his family and friends, whose lives were enriched simply by knowing him. Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in remembering the quiet strength, warmth, and love he brought into our lives.

Darrell's life reminded us that a person's greatest legacy is not measured by what they possess, but by the kindness they show and the lives they touch. He leaves behind that legacy in abundance.
