It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved mother, Dale Jeanne Bott, who passed away after a long fight with cancer at the age of 72 on November 27th, 2025, in Calgary AB.
Dale leaves behind her daughter Randi (Corey) and her son Dallas (Justine). Dale is survived by her siblings D’Arcy (Jo-Ann) Dumont, Stephen Dumont and Richard (Kelly) Dumont and adopted family Ivan Katic (Ann). Dale had numerous nieces and nephews and six beloved grandchildren from Randi (Jordan, Tristan and Cori) and Dallas (Ashton, Taylor and Bentley).
In her early years, she was an elite skier winning multiple junior ski races. She was a talented artist and an avid bingo player who always seemed to have the luck of the Irish.
Dale’s greatest passions late in life other than her children and grandchildren were Geocaching and bead work. Dale was an avid geocacher for the last 10 years or more. She absolutely loved this game, with hundreds of caches created and found. She met many wonderful people and loved where the game took her. Be it up the side of a mountain, in countryside ditches, coulees or a city park. Occasionally even up a tree, she always ended up with a big smile. Even two trips to the E.R. would not deter her.
Dale was integral in digging in and doing the research into the Dumont heritage. This made the family aware how deeply steeped the family is in the Metis heritage. This led to numerous family becoming members of the Metis Nation of Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan and Ontario She arranged for the cousins to attend round dances and was the spark behind making, or having made, ribbon skirts to attend these dances as well as special occasions. She hosted a wonderful afternoon for the cousins getting together and making drums. All in all, she was the start of making us proud of our history and culture. Her bead work passion also reflected the Metis Heritage.
Dale's family will be hosting a celebration of her life in Spring of 2026. Details will be announced in the New Year. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society
