Cypriana "Rose" DeSouza

Mum shared her values of faith, love, charity, perseverance, and education with her family and everyone who was blessed to have known her. Widowed at a young age, she did her best to provide for her five children. She had a strong, independent spirit and work ethic. Mum gave a sympathetic ear to her children and grandchildren and was always called upon to pray for us in our times of need. She made sure no one left her house with an empty stomach. Mum had an incredible memory, remembering birthdays, names, Catholic feast days, specific events, and anniversaries.

She is survived by her children Juliet, Fr. Silvano, Placy (Flor) and Hillary; grandchildren Reggie (Jo), Alastair, Maria-Elena (Steve), and Stuart in England, Mark (Danica), and Michael in Calgary, Christina (Robert) in Scotland; ten great-grandchildren; and her sisters Lourdes, Sr. Sebastian, and Filomena. Mum was predeceased by her husband Reginald and sons Romeo (Filomena) and Alexander.

We'd like to express our gratitude to Dr. Rahim Kachra and the medical team at Foothills Medical Center for providing her with the best of care and compassion during her final days; Dr. Richa Love, mum’s physician for several years; support from her community network, which includes priests, neighbors (many of whom she regarded as family), parishioners at Corpus Christi Church, and numerous friends and relatives.

A celebration of mum’s life and reception will be announced at a later date due to the recent health directives.
