Cornelius Vegter

Cornelius was born in Bierum, Netherlands. He was one of 12 children born from Jan Cornelius and Geertje Vegter. He immigrated to Iron Springs, Canada with his family when he was 19 years old. There he worked in the sugar beets until he started his own roofing company which he worked hard at for over 30 years. He was blessed with 1 amazing son, Elroy and 5 beautiful daughters, Grace, Linda, Alice, Corinne and Sandra, who all love him very much. He has 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Cor was a dedicated member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Calgary where he served for many years on council and in several other capacities. He had a passion for singing and was a proud member of the CRC Male Chorus for over 25 years. Cor was known for his funny sense of humour and his generosity in giving to and helping others.

In his final years he lived at Bethany in Didsbury, AB. There he enjoyed helping with the gardening & grounds keeping and he took pleasure in his daily walks in the country. His faith carried him through his life on earth and we take great comfort that he is now singing with those that went before him in eternal glory.
