Colleen Vandezande Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Colleen Mary Vandezande, beloved wife of Marvin Vandezande and mother of Amy Vandezande, on Tuesday, September 10, 2019.

Besides her loving husband of 39 years, Colleen is survived by her daughter, Amy Vandezande. She is also survived by her siblings, Tim McGuire (Sherrill-Ann) and Terry McGuire (Sandy), as well as many nephews and great nephews, nieces and great nieces, brothers and sisters-in-law, and her mother-in-law. Colleen was predeceased by her brother Brendan McGuire, and her parents Harold and Stella McGuire.

Colleen was born on October 4, 1949 in Montreal, Quebec. She had a wonderful career as a bookkeeper and office manager for a number of companies throughout her life. Colleen was fortunate to have lived in Edmonton, Slave Lake, Pincher Creek, Innisfail, Red Deer, Doha Qatar and finally in Calgary, Alberta. In her travels she met many wonderful friends from all over the world and remained in close contact with them. Her travels would take her to Ireland, England, Germany, Italy, Mexico, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. Colleen lived with her family in Qatar for five years.

Colleen loved to travel, swim and lay on the beach in hot weather with a good book. She was an avid reader and would read constantly. In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, Colleen took exceptional pride in everything she did including decorating, cooking, shopping, exercise and many renovation projects. Her ambition and attention to detail showed in everything she did. A place for everything and everything in its place.... Colleen collected many momentos, souvenirs, and family keepsakes, passed down to her over the years.
