Cliff Anderson passed away peacefully on January 11, 2025, at the Dulcina Hospice in Calgary, Alberta. Born in Castor, Alberta, on September 21, 1938, Cliff lived a life full of warmth, joy, and dedication to his family, friends, and faith.
Growing up on the family farm near Coronation, Alberta, Cliff learned the values of hard work and kindness that defined his life. On June 29, 1970, he married Helen, his beloved wife and partner for over 54 years. Together, they built a happy family, raising two sons, Brent (Jackie) and Jason (Laura). Cliff was a proud and loving grandfather to Chesley, Luke, Erynn, and Leah, who brought immense joy to his life.
His career journey reflected his hardworking spirit and adaptability. In Cliff’s early work years, he had various jobs including farm hand, fireman on CP steam locomotives and as a trucker, hauling gravel to build roads. Later, he became a UFA Petroleum Agent, a job he held for four years. Shortly after they were married, Cliff and Helen moved to Calgary, where Cliff became a real estate agent. Cliff made it into the Million Dollar Club, a considerable accomplishment when you consider the price of houses at that time! For the last 21 years of his career, Cliff worked as a Caretaker with the Calgary Board of Education. As the years went on, he had various positions and earned his Boiler Certification which led to promotions as Head Caretaker at Forest Lawn High School and later on as a Senior Caretaking Supervisor. Cliff brought dedication and solid integrity to each role that he took on.
Cliff will be remembered for his unwavering love and commitment to his family, especially his wife Helen. Known for his friendly demeanor, sense of humor, and welcoming nature, Cliff had a gift for making others feel at home. He loved chatting with friends old and new, playing games, and sharing laughs. He also enjoyed the beauty of God’s creation, finding happiness hiking, biking and camping in the mountains and traveling the world in his retirement. His deep faith in Christ was the cornerstone of his life, and he believed strongly in the importance of accepting Christ as your personal Savior.
Cliff is survived by his loving wife, Helen and his siblings Ken (Lil) Anderson and Edna Kary, as well as his brother-in-law Dave (Mary) Epp and sister-in-law Edith Anderson. He was predeceased by his infant brother, Gilbert, and his parents Alfred and Elsie Anderson; siblings, Maxine Nelson, Lawrence Anderson, Irene Heckenliable, Marie Litke, Shirley Epp, and Bernice McComish; brothers-in-law Melvin Nelson, Ray Heckenliable, Norman Litke, Arden McComish and Art Kary.
