Christina "June" Landels

It is with heavy hearts the family of Christina “June” Landels announce her passing on April 17, 2022 in her 81st year.  

June was born June 4, 1941 in Birch River, Manitoba to Flora Fox (nee Robinson) and Jim Fox.  She married John “Jack” Landels on September 5, 1960 in The Pas, Manitoba. They shared 47 wonderful years together. Jack and June settled in Calgary, Alberta where together they raised three children: David, Donald and Jacqueline.

June was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  Known for her generosity and welcoming spirit, she was always ready to lend a helping hand.  She was a fantastic cook and homemaker. Hobbies included knitting, crocheting and cross stich. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family playing card and board games such as crib, bridge and tile rummy.  June was particularly proud of her grandchildren, all of whom have one or two treasured hand-knitted or crocheted blankets, made with love, especially just for them.

June is survived by her two sons, David (Velda), Donald (Megan) and daughter, Jacqueline (Todd) and grandchildren, Breanne (Chris), Kristen, Tye, Cory (Laura), Halle, Paige and Reid.

June is also survived by siblings, Audrey, Theresa (Rusty), Leroy (Christel), Winnie (Rafeal) and Dennis. Sadly, June was predeceased by her husband, Jack, parents, Flora and Jim and other close relatives and in-laws.

June was involved for many years with the 2098 Ladies Auxiliary Fraternal Order of Eagles.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff and residents of the Rivera Evergreen Retirement Home and Silverado Creek Nursing Home.

A celebration of June’s life will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022 at the Delta South Hotel, Rundle room, 135 Southland Drive in Calgary, Alberta from 2 -4 pm.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Calgary .
