In Memory of Che Min Leo Siu
Leo was born in Hong Kong and grew up during a tumultuous era. Despite the challenging and difficult circumstances, he maintained an unwavering passion for knowledge and never ceased his pursuit of learning. Throughout his life, he was steadfast in his pursuit of knowledge, particularly dedicating the first half of his life to the field of education. As a teacher of physical education, English, and discipline, he became a respected mentor and friend to countless students, admired not only for his deep knowledge but also for his noble character. His humor and positive attitude left a lasting impression, inspiring students both in and out of the classroom and earning their respect and affection.
In terms of faith, Leo was baptized in 1953. During his youth, he frequently attended mass at Hong Kong Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, where he served as an altar assistant, finding in his faith a vital pillar of his life. Leo was a man of great passion, especially when it came to food. He had a refined taste and was a true culinary enthusiast. His cooking was a source of joy for his family, and he became the heart and soul of his household, creating endless warmth and happiness with his delicious meals and warm smile.
After moving to Calgary, Leo maintained his passion for knowledge, actively studying subjects like traditional Chinese medicine and geography. He joined the Calgary Chinese Orchestra and fundraising activities, adding vibrancy to his life. He was part of the founding efforts for O.L.P.H. Senior Centre, an organization dedicated to supporting elderly Chinese individuals. This opportunity to give back to the community and serve others filled him with gratitude.
Leo’s life was filled with wisdom and love. His spirit and memories will forever remain in our hearts, guiding and inspiring us as we move forward.
Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church (400 Edmonton Trail NE) on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery (3219 4 Street NW).
