Mary Cecilia "Ceccy" Jacobs, admired as a pillar of strength and unyielding positivity, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024. Born on April 24, 1924, Ceccy was known for her warmth, generosity, and loving spirit she shared with the world.
Ceccy will be affectionately remembered by her beloved daughter, Kathleen Gamble, her nephew Peter, his wife Maredah, and their three children Andrew, Kristy, and Katrina, her nephew Patrick and his wife Judy, and her many cousins. She is joined in rest by her husband, Albert, her brother, Frank, her sons Greg and Jeff, and her much loved grandson, Peter. With a large family tree, consisting of both blood ties and bonds formed from the heart, Ceccy’s reach was as far as it was wide, and she was cherished deeply by many.
Among Ceccy’s most noteworthy accomplishments was raising her three children, whom she held as her pride and joy. Also successful in her career, she worked first as a lab technician and later as a secretary for a land development company. Ceccy enjoyed spending time with her extended family, travelling, playing bridge, and attending both the theatre and opera. One of her treasured memories was a private performance by an opera singer at her 100th birthday party earlier this year.
Ceccy never wavered in her compassion for others and in her pride of community. For as long as she was able, Ceccy regularly volunteered her time at the Kirby Center. Ceccy’s legacy is one of endless kindness and generosity, and her loss will be deeply felt by all those who knew her.
A Graveside Service for Ceccy will take place on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 11:45am at Queen’s Park Cemetery (3219 4 St NW). Those wishing to celebrate her life are welcome.
