In the very early morning of January 24th, Cecile Rose Arsenault (nee Stappler) our loving Wife, caring Mom and adoring Nana peacefully passed away.
Cecile was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta on January 12, 1940, and grew up near Bow Island, Alberta. Cecile attended school in Bow Island, where she met and married her husband of 65 years, Robert (Bob) Arsenault. They moved from Bow Island to Grand Rapids, and then to Montreal before eventually settling in Calgary, Alberta. Cecile and Bob raised three children, Troy Arsenault (Joanne), Mark Arsenault (Debra) and Traci Arsenault.
One of the greatest joys in Cecile's life was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kristin Arsenault (Alissa Lees), Jared Arsenault (Kristy) great-grandchildren, (Romee and Cohen), Emma King, Tyler Arsenault, and Renee Arsenault.
Cecile is predeceased by her parents Anthony and Magdalena Stappler, her sister Isabel Nerland, her brother Philip Stappler. Cecile is survived by her brother David Stappler, as well as a large extended family.
As a young woman Cecile worked in a dress shop in Medicine Hat where her love for fashion showed. Later in life Cecile worked in the Lamp department at Woodwards, where she met several lifelong friends. Cecile retired from the Mayfair Pharmacy to enjoy life with Bob and her family.
A very important part of Cecile's life was her faith, she attended and volunteered at St. Cecilia's Roman Catholic Church, for many decades. Cecile was very dedicated to her long-time commitment to the CWL.
Cecile loved painting and ceramics, she enjoyed days in the garden, baking and tea parties with her grandchildren. Together with family, Cecile and Bob enjoyed summers in BC and Bow Island, road tripping to California and their favourite trips to the Maritimes and Newfoundland. The house she made was filled with friends, family, food, laughter and love.
Cecile was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
A funeral will be held on Friday March 27th, at 1:00 pm at St. Cecila's Roman Catholic Church in Calgary.
