Carina Casoria

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carina Casoria, beloved mother, nonna, and matriarch of our family, on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at the age of 89.

Carina is survived by her devoted daughters Linda Greco, Annette & John Russo, and Angela Casoria; her adoring grandchildren Melissa Greco, Kimberly Russo, Michelle Russo, and Michael Forfylow; and other numerous and cherished family and friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband Angelo Casoria; parents Giuseppe Annarumma and Anna Marano; sisters Emilia Stramaglia and Assunta Marano; son-in-law Tony Greco; and granddaughter Rita Cinthia Greco.

Born in Monteforte Irpino, Avellino, Italy, Carina and Angelo immigrated to Canada in April 1968 with their three young daughters, seeking a better future and carrying with them the strength, warmth, and traditions of their homeland. Together, they built a life grounded in love, family, and hard work. Carina was the heart of our family, and her passion for her loved ones was boundless. Her happiest moments were spent surrounded by her children and grandchildren, whether nurturing her vibrant garden, baking tray after tray of Italian cookies, or gathering us all to make homemade sauce under the summer sun. Her home was always filled with the aromas of tradition, the sounds of laughter, and the warmth of togetherness. Holidays were especially treasured, filled with her deep-rooted customs, joyfully passed down to new generations around her bustling kitchen table. Summers spent in Italy with her sisters, nieces, and nephews were a cherished constant, reinforcing her enduring ties to family near and far. Carina lived a long and beautiful life, filled with devotion, resilience, and joy. She possessed the purest of hearts: fierce, loyal, and true. That indelible spirit now lives on through her daughters and granddaughters, who carry forward her legacy of strength, kindness, and unconditional love.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Carina’s health care team, especially the doctors, staff, and caregivers at Brentwood and Chinook Care Centres, for their compassionate and attentive care.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (corner of Northmount Drive and Northland Drive NW) on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at 11:00am. Private Graveside service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum.
