Bryan Ross French

On Thursday, January 22nd at 5:22pm, one-month shy of his 82nd birthday, Bryan Ross French decided it was time to leave this realm and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a challenging year due to health complications.

Much beloved husband to Edna - for what would have been 60 years this June, incredible father to Yvonne (Leigh) and Brad (Franca), the best-ever Papa to Ben, Brandon and Morgan; Bryan also leaves his lasting memory to many, many extended family members who all loved him dearly.

It is said that you cannot have an easy life AND great character. Throughout his life, Bryan did everything he was capable of to support his family, no matter the sacrifice. Despite some rather lean times in the beginning, we were always well taken care of.

Bryan was a man of value and integrity. He often used life's events to teach us important life lessons. He was a man of few words, but when you needed advice, he gave it to you in the simplest form. 

He had the best sense of humour, which he shared on his terms. He would randomly say things like "eat dessert first" which, of course, always had an underlying message.

He was a homebody. Whenever we'd get him out of the house for get togethers, he'd sit, eat, enjoy and then be done and wanted to go home....NOW!

In 2004, Bryan retired from the Calgary Fire Department as Lieutenant after 27 1/2 years of fearless service. For the remainder of his days, he kept himself busy as a handyman to many, a lounger in his coveted lazy-boy, a buyer of lottery tickets, a watcher of black and white war movies and a passionate political armchair critic.

Bryan’s wishes are to have no service at this time and instead to have a Celebration of Life in the coming months.
