Bluest of eyes, softest of hearts, Bradley Schafer, aka Bradshaw, left this world not having to vote in another civil election, not having to wear another couples-themed Halloween costume, satisfied that The Eagles were one of the best bands of all time and that Planes, Trains, and Automobiles would always be mandatory Thanksgiving watching.
Brad was born in Magrath, Alberta and spent his childhood in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He graduated from the U of C in 1982 with a Commerce Degree and was proud to call Calgary his home ever since. He met his adoring wife, Glenda, during Stampede week, and together they embarked on over 33 Stampedes.
His thirst for knowledge began early; he read encyclopedias for fun and his ability to retain massive amounts of trivial information made it nearly impossible to play Trivial Pursuit with him.
He had a lifelong love affair with Heinz ketchup and nearly put his young bride into cardiac arrest when he squeezed ketchup onto a beautifully grilled ribeye steak. Brad was a lifetime member of the legendary Turbo Guzzlers hockey team. Although no longer an active shooter, Brad would assist in hosting the Guzzlers annual golf tournament and was proud to have won the green jacket.
His love of music was wide, from Bach to Credence. He laughed inappropriately whenever he could, political correctness was always fair game and will go on record as having the worst sense of direction known to man.
Napkins across North America will be folded at half-mast this week at buffet restaurants across America, in appreciation of one of their favorite customers.
His gentle soul, competitive spirit and razor-sharp wit will be missed.
