Bernie was the youngest boy in our family of five children. He grew up in in Haysboro, Calgary, attending St.Gerard, St. Stephen and Bishop Grandin Schools. He was predeceased by his brother Gerald Francis (Gerry), his parents, Charles Henry (Charlie), Mary-Anne (Maureen) and brother William Patrick (Bill). He is survived by his brother Kevin of Yorkton, Saskatchewan and sister Mary and husband Lorne Wendling of Okotoks Alberta. We would like to acknowledge the friendship, love and care extended by several people to our brother. Bernard was very good friends with Darren Hamelin and Laurel and Brad O’Leary, and their sons for many years.
Bernard was a valued employee of Escoba Bistro and Wine Bar for many years in the later part of his life where he was loved and cared for by Brad and Laurel O'Leary and their sons Sam and Mason now of New Glasgow Nova Scotia. He was loved and cared for by them and he loved them in return.
He would often be seen sharing a beer and waxing philosophically with the staff at the restaurant after a long shift. Thank you to the Heritage Housing Foundation of Calgary and their support staff for providing him with affordable housing. Bernard will be dearly missed by all.
