Beatrice Gracie Obituary

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, Beatrice A. Gracie, took the lord’s hands on January 3, 2021, and he led her home. Born in L’Ardoise, she was the daughter of Charles R. Pottie and Mabel Bonin.

Nanny loved the simple things in life and adored her family.

Since moving to Calgary, she loved spending time with Kayleigh, Paula, and Jacob, whether the plans were road trips, going to dinner theatres, Broadway shows, hockey games, or the Casino.  Nanny was always in for fun and she was always Jacob’s ‘preferred’ partner in Crib.

There was only one man for Beatrice, her soulmate Joseph, and there hadn’t been a day that had gone by that she didn’t miss him.  She is at peace with Joseph and her son Howard and Baby George.

A special thank you to all of her Friends at St. Patrick’s church in Calgary.  She often referred to Mike and Marie McDougall, and John and Maureen McIntosh as her “angels”. Their friendship was immediately and their shared, strong belief in God gave her such an amazing Catholic support system and one that she truly cherished to the end.

Special thank you to Patricia Gower(Beatrice’s personal nurse at the heart function clinic in South Health Campus), Dr. Zhao(heart doctor at South Health Campus), and Dr. Jana Krajbich(her family doctor).  She was so well taken care of by these amazing medical specialists that I truly feel we stole more time.

She told Paula and Kayleigh at the end that “She’ll love us forever.”    We take those words into our hearts deeply knowing she will keep her promise and will forever love her family from a distance.

She is survived by her daughters; Wanda (Edward) Lr. Sackville, NS, Brenda, Halifax, NS, and Paula, Alberta, Grandchildren; Marc (Tara), Jordan (Katie), and Kayleigh (Jacob). Great Grandchildren; Makiah, Nevaeh, Alayah, and Arionah; and her many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.

She is predeceased in death by her husband, Joe, her sons; Howard and George; Her many brothers and sisters, Nieces, and Nephew.

A private service by invitation only (due to the pandemic) will be held on January 12, 2021, at 11 am at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church. The service will be recorded by Evan J. Strong Funeral Services and will be available for online viewing after the funeral service.
