Barbara Lindeburg Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Barbara Lindeburg at the age of 87 years. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Vernell, in June 2010.  She is survived by her three children, Jennifer, Stephanie and Christopher (Donna); and her “Lucky 7” grandchildren: Katie, Emily, Jillian, Blair, Evan, Colby and Tyler. She is also survived by her sisters Elizabeth Law, Kathleen Smyth, and Patricia Bietz, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mom was born in Timmins, Ontario to parents Bobbie (Kathleen) and Duncan Campbell.  They were not there for long, Duncan's job as a mining Engineer had them moving many, many, many times during her childhood.  The family finally settled in Edmonton in 1947.  There Barb met Vern, the love of her life, at the young age of 13.  They started dating at 16 and were married by the time they were 21 years old.  Mom helped put Dad through university, and after he graduated with a degree in geology, they moved to Calgary in 1961.  By 1965 they had settled for good in an old house in Scarboro with their three children.  Those early years were filled with raising her children while living in a house that was constantly under construction as they worked on one room at a time.

Whether it was knitting, stitching, or quilting, Mom always had a project on the go. But then in the early 1980’s she discovered antique dolls and found a whole new love!  She was instrumental in starting the Calgary Doll Club and later the Foothills Doll Club. She became a locally recognized authority, but in her own words, “the best thing about it all is the friendships we’ve made and the fun we’ve had together.”

Anyone who knew Mom probably sat and visited at her kitchen table with a coffee or tea, depending on the time of day!  When it was time to go she would wave good-bye from her front porch and say T.T.F.N. – ta ta for now.  Now it is our turn to say ta ta for now mom – We love you and we will miss you!

A Memorial Service will be held at Scarboro United Church, 134 Scarboro Ave SW, Calgary, AB, T3C 2H1 on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 1:00pm. The family would like to thank the many people who were there and helped along this journey.  We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Jennifer Peterson who loved and cared for our mom for almost five years, and who is now one of the family.  A huge thank you to the staff at Staywell Manor – Lubiov, Ann, and the many others who showed such kindness and patience.  Thank you to Kiersten and her staff at Always Best Care.  And thank you to Laura Silver - death doula extraordinaire.  Her guidance and support were invaluable as we neared the end of the journey. Photos, memories and condolences may be shared with Barbara’s family through www.evanjstrong.com.
