Anna Marie Gamble Obituary

Anna Marie Gamble (nee Erker), passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, July 28th, 2026, at the age of 80 years, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born July 14, 1946 in Liebenthal, SK, and raised as a teenager in Leader, SK, a beautiful rural community, before settling in Calgary, AB.

Anna was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, we were blessed to have her love and care and will forever remember the many happy times and celebrations we had as a family. As a young adult, Anna found her calling was to help people and completed her program in residence at the Weyburn Union hospital in 1967, becoming a licensed practical nurse (LPN), and worked at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Regina, SK and the Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary, AB, before starting her family. For a time Anna volunteered with the church’s CWL and in her retirement years volunteered at the YMCA reading stories to children. Her creativity shined through in many ways such as baking and decorating cookies, sketching pictures, painting ceramics, and beadwork that she often gifted to family. Anna loved animals, including a childhood pony, the family pet dogs, and any adorable rabbit, squirrel, or bird she saw.

Anna will be lovingly remembered by her three children and their families; daughter, Annette (Dave) Wilhelm, sons, Sean (Alice Law) Gamble, Bryan (Tiffany Poon) Gamble, and her six much loved grandchildren, Steven, Daniel, Maia, Ryan, Madelyn, and Brayden. Anna is also survived by her sister, Theresa (Carson) Rine and brother, Gerald (Linda) Erker, brother-in-law, Tom Gamble, and sister-in-law, Carole Harkes, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Anna was predeceased by her beloved husband of 37 years, Allan Gamble (passed in 2005), parents, Roy and Elizabeth Erker, and her siblings; Katherine, Vincent, Margaret, Tillie, Eleanor, Frances, Elizabeth, and Cecilia.

Her family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, staff, and volunteers at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre, Foothills Hospital, and previously the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, who helped Anna in her time of need. As well, a special "Thank You" goes to Dr. Lupichuk and the caring staff and volunteers at the Rosedale Hospice.
