Alice Dombroski Obituary

Alice Florence Dombroski, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, godmother, a woman of faith and a friend to many of all ages, blessedly passed away like a dream in the night, early Sunday morning on Oct 20th, 2024, in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 91. Born in Leduc, AB August 14, 1933, Alice’s full life was reflected in the engaging experiences she lived in all those many years.

A woman of many passions, Alice loved to bake, knit, garden, pick apples and make many pies with the bounty. She was an avid world traveler, with her heart forever captured by the stunning beauty of Whitefish, Montana, where she created a lifetime of cherished memories.

Alice was predeceased by the love of her life, Wally, who left this world 30 years ago. She will be joyfully reunited with him in the embrace of eternity.

Alice was a pillar of strength, facing life's challenges with unwavering determination. The hardship and confusion of dementia was thought to be Alice’s final hardship until a recent fall that fractured her hip added a new layer and yet she never complained. Her fierce spirit and deep faith, nurtured through her decades-long membership in the Catholic Women's League, inspired all who knew her, and we watched in wonder as she soldiered on making the angels at Chinook Hospice wonder at Alice’s fierce will for life.

Alice’s home was a haven for many family gatherings, where laughter and love flourished. She will be deeply missed by her 5 children, Gregory Dombroski (Kathy), Roberta Dombroski Edwards, Douglas Dombroski (Cindy) Claudette Stiven (Robert) and Suzanne Presinal (Ken Newel), Alice’s sisters in law Lucy Baril and Bernadette Carter (Brooke) , one remaining brother, Leonard Sarnecki, Alice also had 3 sisters, Isabel Hunter, Lucie Bara and Rosemarie Bara who passed before her. Grandchildren Angela, Veronica, Courtney, Kendra, Olivier, Maddison, and Skylar. Great Grandchildren Taylor, Gabriella, Hadley, Oakley, Findley, Lulu and Violet. Also her many nieces and nephews. She will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.

We would be remiss if we did not mention all the angels that came to be with Mom in her last months, her heart was expanded by the hours you sat with her, told your stories, fluffed her pillows and said the rosary, Alice will be forever grateful and so will her family.

Alice was always in awe of very long obituaries, Mom, we will keep it short and yet oh so sweet.
