Alex was born February 19, 1936 in Satchinez, Romania. He grew up there and emigrated to Canada in 1950 with his brother John where they were reunited with their parents. He started his career at CP Rail right out of high school in 1956. In 1960 he met Rosa Marie Ibach and they were marred in 1963. They had two daughters, Alixes in 1966 and Felicia in 1972. They moved quite often in the first years of their marriage eventually settling in Calgary. After 38 years with CP Rail he retired in 1994. Throughout his life he enjoyed getting to know his many brother and sister in law’s and spending a lot of time with them. He enjoyed frequent visits to see his parents and siblings. He was an avid hockey fan, well sports fan really, and was one of the many to get tickets to the first season the Flames came to Calgary. In 1988 he was proud to be a volunteer for the Winter Olympics translating for athletes as they arrived at the airport. He delighted in teasing his many nieces and nephews and was known to imbibe in a few beverages and some mischief with them as well. There were quite a few trips to Dairy Queen, right Danielle? He loved his family, spending time joking and laughing with them. He was always ready with a twinkle in his eye, a smirk on his face and a tale to tell. If someone was in need he was always more than willing to help. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 21, 2022. He is survived by his wife Rosa and his daughter Felicia.
