Abramo Massitti

April 26, 1930 - Rivisondoli, L’Aquila, Italy - March 27, 2025 - Calgary, Alberta, Canada

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Abramo Massitti on Thursday, March 27 2025 at the age of 94. After serving in the Italian Army, Abramo immigrated to Natal, British Columbia in 1954. He returned to Rivisondoli in 1958 and married his wife Edvige, on September 25, 1958. They settled in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1958. 

Abramo (Abe) was a beloved husband, father and nonno. He leaves behind his spouse of 66 years, Edvige, son Orest (Susan), daughter Paola (Paul) and grandchildren Jesse (Stacy), Andreas and Mateo, Em and Kyra, and great-grandchildren Parker and Morgan. He was predeceased by his oldest daughter Patrizia (Ray).

Anyone who knew Abramo will remember he was always joking and he had an infectious smile. He spent hours in his garden and loved to grow delicious tomatoes, he loved to cook and have his family over to enjoy meals together.

We would like to thank the care team at Brentwood Care Centre, who took care of him through all the trials and tribulations for close to 7 years and made his last few days comfortable and filled with smiles.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Alzheimer Society of Calgary in Abramo’s memory.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (1566 Northmount Drive NW)  on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Graveside service to follow at Queen's Park Mausoleum. For those unable to attend in person, there will be a livestream link available below.
