Welcome to the memorial page for

Kenneth G Tidsbury

April 14, 1937 ~ June 10, 2017 (age 80) 80 Years Old
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ken Tidsbury on June 10, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Dani; and his daughter, Brenda McLean, her husband, Scott; and grandchildren, Jordan, Tait, Kyle and Ty. He was predeceased by his beloved daughters, Terri Jo, and Jodi; his parents, Margaret, and George Tidsbury; and his brother, Bob. Ken was born on April 14, 1937, and raised in Calgary. He attended Balmoral School and Crescent Heights High School. He was a lifetime athlete, and played hockey and football in Calgary. He cherished the summers that he spent on his aunt and uncle's farm in Manitoba. The family moved to Saskatoon when he was 16. He attended City Park High School, and captained the Hilltops football team. He received his Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan where he played football for the university football team, the Huskies. During his life, he played a variety of sports including tennis and golf. He obtained his Masters of Education from Oregon, and returned to Calgary to teach at Henry Wisewood High School. He moved to SAIT as Athletic Director. He was instrumental in the creation and design of the SAIT Campus Centre; and was the Director of Student Services for a number of years before his retirement. A lifetime pleasure for him were the times that he spent at the cottage at Waskesiu Lake, Saskatchewan, beginning as a life guard in 1958. His love of that area never wavered. In later years, he also enjoyed the family cottage at Fairmont, BC. His grandchildren are especially grateful for the time together in both places as he taught them many life lessons, most importantly to keep life simple, fish, golf and cherish the sunsets. Throughout his years in Calgary he spent many enjoyable hours at the Calgary Winter Club participating in a variety of activities. His passion was working out in the gym, and he could be found lifting weights even in his final days. Ken made a significant contribution to education in Calgary. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Calgary Winter Club on Friday, June 16th at 11am - 1:30pm (4611 - 14St. NW Calgary, AB). In lieu of flowers, donations to Cystic Fibrosis Canada - Calgary and Southern Alberta Chapter would be greatly appreciated.
