Dana Michelle Turnbull

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dana Turnbull on September 10th 2017. She is survived by her husband Nathan, son Alexander, sister Leah Hientz (Corey Dick), nephew Blake, parents Michael and Valerie Hientz, and numerous relatives and friends. Dana was born November 22nd 1983 in Saskatoon. A precocious child, her education was enriched through the gifted learning programs at Caswell School and Walter Murray Collegiate. Dana loved rocks. As a child, she was always collecting specimens. This translated into a career which she pursued wholeheartedly. After high school, she enthusiastically embraced her studies at the University of Saskatchewan, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering. She flourished in potash mining, earning her Professional Engineering designation, and more recently she worked in oil and gas. From early childhood, Dana was passionately involved in ballet, jazz, tap, and musical theatre. To her love of dance, she brought her desire to excel and thrived in competition. Her need for adventure, balanced by her superb organizational skills, fueled her passion for worldwide travel. Meaningful relationships delighted Dana and she was blessed with many lifelong friendships. Even as an introvert, she loved social gatherings and sharing ideas and experiences with others. Dana enriched the lives of those around her with her smile, laughter, sarcasm, sass, and fierce loyalty. A dedicated wife and loving mother, Dana embraced family life. She will be sadly missed. A memorial service will be held at St. Stephen's Church (1121 14th Ave SW Calgary) on Saturday September 16 at 2:00 PM.
