Wayne Leslie Craig

Wayne Leslie Craig passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018, in Calgary, AB, at the age of 60 years. He is survived by his mother, Jeanette Herringshaw of French Creek, BC; daughters, Shelbey Bennett (Nick) and Taryn Craig, both of Calgary, AB; and, sister, Genene Mayes (Doug) of Irricana, AB. He is predeceased by his father, Leslie Craig and, wife, Dawn Craig. Wayne was born on January 17, 1958. He graduated from Sir Winston Churchill High School in 1976, followed by Mount Royal College with a Radio Arts and Television Diploma. He married Dawn, the love of his life, in 1983, and welcomed his daughters, his pride and joy, in 1987 and 1991. Wayne always had a joke, gag, trivia fact, or riddle up his sleeve. He had a knack for keeping, not only his daughters, family members, and friends entertained, but also his coworkers, with show tunes and jokes. Wayne avidly collected model trains and was always looking for the next classic car to snoop at down the street, back country road, or farmer’s field. Wayne started at CBC in 1979. He had the pleasure of working on many projects he loved, in Calgary and around the world, including Hockey Night in Canada, and the Olympics. Wayne was also an accomplished singer and actor. He was a member of The Young Canadians, was a performer with Calgary Theatre Singers, and performed in theatre shows at the Pumphouse Theatre, Lunchbox Theatre, and the Southern Alberta Jubilee. Celebration of Life will be held at the Mamdani Opera Centre (1315 – 7 Street SW) on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 6:30 pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Wayne’s life.
