Walter Orysiuk

Walter Orysiuk passed away peacefully at the Foothills Medical Centre on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the age of 86 years. He is survived by his children, Kathy (David Purdy), Tom (Heidi) and Sandra Rhead (Marten); and by his grandchildren: Thomas and Suzy Purdy, Eryn and Luke Orysiuk and Mitchell and Brooklyn Rhead. Walter is predeceased by Eileen, his loving wife of 54 years; and their daughter Joanne. Walter was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on July 27, 1930 where his parents, Philip and Sarafina, raised their three children, Mary Melosky (Louis), Walter and his twin brother Jake (Pauline). Walter attended St. Paul's High School in Winnipeg on a scholarship. After graduating, he initially studied geology but switched to accounting. He moved to Edmonton where he met and married Eileen and they raised their family. Walter and Eileen moved to Calgary in their later years to be near their daughters. Walter was a devoted Catholic and cherished his family. He supported Eileen's efforts and involvement with the Charity of St. Vincent de Paul. Walter will be greatly missed and fondly remembered. Thank you to all who have supported our family with visits and prayers. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church (2424- 24 Avenue NW) on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 1:00 pm.
