Stuart Roderick Pollock, age 72, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on January 12, 2020.Stuart was born on March 24th, 1947 in Nottingham, England to Connie and Bill Pollock and was the oldest of five siblings. The Pollock family moved to Calgary when Stu was 9 years old, and apart from several adventures abroad, has resided here ever since. Stuart married Jacquie Burnay, his devoted wife of 50 years, in 1969 and together they raised three wonderful daughters – Jaime (Alex), Jillian (Mitch), and Jessica (Dennis). Stu was equally proud of his sons-in-law and he wasted no time welcoming each into his growing family. Stuart was also the proud grandparent to seven amazing grandchildren Jayden, Jared, Andrew, Felix, Cleo, Oscar and MacKay-each of whom loved and admired their Grandpa. Anyone who met Stu knew he had the gift of gab and the wit to match. He liked nothing more than conversing with people and could engage in a discussion about any topic without missing a beat. He was a naturally curious and thoughtful man who valued people above everything else. One of his greatest attributes was his ability to convey his genuine appreciation for those around him and build people up. He had a deep interest in his Scottish and English roots and made strong connections with family in both the UK and Australia. Stuart loved to hike, was a skilled woodworker, and took immense pride in his home and garden. He was also an excellent curler and spent many an afternoon at the Garrison curling. Above all else – Stuart loved his family and he never missed an opportunity to share that fact. He made each one of us feel special and cherished. He will be dearly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 12:00pm, at Oak Park Church of Christ (11263 Oakfield Dr. SW, Calgary). If desired, a donation to the Salvation Army would be appreciated.
