Shirley Josephine Mendonsa, at age 70, passed away on October 4, 2017, in Calgary Alberta, at the Rockyview Hospital. Born on April 6, 1947, in Bombay India, where she was a primary teacher, she thereafter moved to Calgary where she was married to Albert Mendonsa and had two daughters, Arleen and Andrea. She was a hard-working, faith-filled, strong and courageous woman who battled many diseases and chronic health issues during the latter part of her life. She was a selfless and dedicated woman who loved her family fiercely. All she did in life was for the purpose of serving her Catholic faith and caring for her family and friends. Her lively and ever present smile and laugh endeared her to all that met her.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Albert Mendonsa, daughters Arleen (Nathan), Andrea (Brian), grandchildren Brendan and Alexandria, brother Melvin (Anita), sister Angela and a wide circle of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Luiza and Alick Marchon, and her brothers Willy and Earnest Marchon.
Relatives and friends are welcome to celebrate with the family in a Memorial Mass on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. from St. Albert the Great Catholic Church (10 Prestwick Dr. SE. Calgary, Alberta), followed by a time of fellowship to which all are invited.
