Richard Gerald Braun Obituary
After a courageous two and a half year battle with prostate cancer, Gerry Braun (Richard Gerald Braun), quietly passed away on March 2, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.
Gerry is survived by his wife Ella; his children, Candice (Ryan) Healey, and Josh (Marise) Braun; his mother, Caroline Braun; his brothers and sisters, Marjorie (Harv) Kliever, Judith Braun, and Ken (Debbie) Braun; Ella’s sister, Lilly (Jim) Barrett; and many nieces and nephews whom he deeply loved.
Gerry will be greatly missed by Ella, his best friend and wife of 37 years. They enjoyed living life together, and spending time with their children and extended family members. Some of the fondest memories were made hiking in the mountains and spending time together at Mabel Lake; boating, paddle boarding, golfing, and most of all, the laughter and storytelling around the campfire. In his work life, Gerry found great satisfaction in homebuilding alongside his brother-in-law Jim, whom he regarded as his brother. They complimented one another in their business, and while the two worked side by side, words were often not required. Integrity and the quality of their craftsmanship were never compromised.
Gerry also had a passion for Casa Luz in Costa Rica, a home for young mothers and their children rescued from abuse and poverty. Gerry led several teams to Casa Luz, building and repairing the facility, and caring for the mothers and their children. Gerry’s love for his family and friends, and his approach to his life and work directly reflected his personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Even though his battle with cancer was difficult, Gerry continued to place his trust in Him, and we celebrate knowing he is with Him now.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 2:00 pm at RockPointe Church
