Raymond Boeckx passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 at the age of 78 years. The Raptors and Blue Jays lost one of their dedicated fans. Raymond Joseph Boeckx was born on May 24, 1939 in Antwerp, Belgium. The family moved to Raymond, Alberta when he was nine years old, and then to Coalhurst, Alberta. Ray joined King and May Electric in Lethbridge where he obtained his Journeyman’s papers. He married the love of his life, Florence (George) in 1961, and they moved to Calgary where he started his own electrical contracting company and to raise his family. Family and sports were the main focus of Ray’s life. Many friends (young and old), were made as he went through life. These friendships were tantamount to him. Ray leaves to mourn his passing, Florence, his wife of almost 57 years; his son Grant (Janet); his son Brent (Linda); his sisters Maria Van Buuren, Lousia Van Buuren, and Denise Kimura (Blake); sister-in-law Lavonne Boeckx (Joseph); and his granddaughters Paris and Jane who brought him great joy. He was predeceased by his parents Remi and Regina; his brothers Joseph and John; and his brothers-in-law, William and Conrad. A Celebration of life will be held at Ray’s home away from home, Lynx Ridge Golf Course (#8 Lynx Ridge Boulevard NW) on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 2:00 pm .
