Patti Lou Doornbos (‘Lou’), born August 3, 1957, aged 60, of Calgary, Alberta, passed tragically in Phoenix, Arizona while on vacation, Tuesday, March 13, 2018. Lou is survived by her husband Ron; stepdaughters, Adrian, and Danielle; her siblings, Rhonda, Terri, Lee, Mike, and their families; and her Mom and Dad, Bob and Dawn Bryson of Olds, Alberta. Lou was predeceased by her beloved grandmother, Peggy aka “PaPa”, and by grandfather Dick Wallace. It is difficult to put into words the impact that Lou had on everyone that knew her. She had a zest for life and lived it well and to the fullest, especially with her loving husband Ron, and their many friends and family. Lou loved to entertain and was an avid outdoor enthusiast. One of her proudest moments was participating in the Olympic Torch Relay for the 1988 Winter Olympic Games in Calgary. She also volunteered throughout the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. Volunteering was very important to her, and she often gave of her time to serve those causes closest to her heart. Lou recently retired from an accomplished HR career at several major oil and gas firms in Calgary. Lou and Ron had many wonderful adventures and were always on the go or planning their next “Social”. Her zest for life was contagious and the intentional way she lived her life inspires us all. Family and friends are invited to The Celebration of Life for Lou Doornbos in the Lakeside Room at The Calgary Shriners Event Centre (5225 101 St NW, Calgary, Alberta) on Monday April 16, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Lou’s name to Cycle Therapy or to the Calgary Humane Society, two of her favourite causes.
