Patricia Luella Emerson (nee: Marcotte) aged 86 was called to heaven on Friday, January 18, 2019 in Calgary.
Patricia, daughter of Maurice and Luella (Cross) Marcotte was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan and grew up in Hudson Bay, SK. She earned her BA in English at The University of Saskatchewan (St. Thomas More College), and moved to Calgary where she met Tom Emerson and they married on July 2, 1955. Together, they believed family was a priority and raised eight children. Patricia was the centre of our family and she kept track of the lives of her children, before computers! She was predeceased in 1998 by her husband Thomas James Emerson to whom she was a great support for 42 years. Patricia continued to nurture, love and connect everyone after Thomas’s death. From her hospice bed she continued texting, Face Timing and supporting everyone. No words can express how greatly Mom (Gramma, GG) will be missed by her eight children; Brian Emerson (Linda), Catherine Nielsen (Garry), Maureen Schmaltz (Kevin), Sheelagh Olson (Randy), Tom Emerson (Sue), Kelly Hoogeveen (Paul), Margot Thomson (Jim) and Greg Emerson (Kim Newman), her 26 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Her faith was very important and was a great comfort to her. Patricia was a founding member of Holy Name Catholic Church, and a lifetime member of The Catholic Women’s League. She led by example and in her quiet way encouraged everyone to live a good and spiritual life. Patricia made beautiful Sunday dinners and stitched love into all her petit point pictures. She loved watching curling and tennis and brought her eight grown children to the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Palm Desert for her 80th birthday, where she attended every game! Patricia shared her life with her dog Mindy after everyone had left home. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
