Suddenly on October 21, 2019, our beloved Neil left this world for the arms of his Heavenly Father. He is deeply missed by Alison, his life’s love, to whom Neil affectionately referred as his Duchess of Beddington; by his parents, John and Valentine Doll; his brothers Ian (Maria) Doll, Tim Doll, and Cyril (Sarah) Doll; his sister Anne Marie (John) Wise; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, uncles, aunties, cousins and friends.
Neil was born in Winnipeg on April 14, 1971 and moved to Calgary with his family in 1979. He attended St. Margaret’s Junior High and graduated from St. Francis High School. Neil studied Engineering at University of Steubenville in Ohio before settling on a career in the trades as a Tinsmith. He honed his skill as a tin-basher at Calgary Tinsmith Industries earning the respect of colleagues and customers through the years.
Neil is remembered as a man of integrity, compassionate service, of always lending a helping hand, providing a word of encouragement and a contagious smile. He was a foe of hypocrisy, bureaucracy, and bike lanes; a lover of the Calgary Stampeders, the Flames, and union made beer. Neil didn't like gardening and he hated to cut the grass. However, Neil did love to sit in a beautiful yard with flowers and a vegetable garden while enjoying a beer. He also loved making pickles, tinkering with his 1969 Buick Wildcat convertible, fishing, and grilling anything. He had a gift of giving a nickname to everyone and anything. It was his way of showing affection and it always worked. Neil’s passing leaves a huge hole in all our hearts and so we pray…
Eternal rest grant to your servant, Neil, Lord and let the perpetual light shine upon him.
