Madelon "Carole" Downey

Carole Downey passed away in peace from pancreatic cancer, with her family by her side on Thursday, November 29, 2018 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 69 years.  She was born on June 20, 1949 in Hilton, Manitoba to Charles and Doris Little and was the last of ten children. As the youngest she was full of life, laughter, and determination. She is survived by her loving husband, Bruce who shared 44 wonderful years with her. She is also survived by her daughters, Angela (Dan) and Lisa (Chris) and by her six precious grandchildren – Kate (18), Megan (16), Matt (13), Chloe (8), Shae (5), and Camden (3). She is preceded by her son, David, who passed away in 1995.

Carole will always be remembered for her loving heart, for her gentle nature, and for her inner strength. She loved to take care of her family and will be remembered for her witty sense of humor and spunky attitude. This playful part of her personality was especially apparent around her grandbabies. She loved to plan pool parties and was always excited to sing songs, to do magic tricks, or to play games with them. Carole loved crafting and spent countless hours pouring her heart and soul into making special projects for all those in her life. She loved every holiday throughout the year and was known to decorate her home from floor to ceiling with seasonal decorations.The family wishes to thank the AHS Palliative Home Care nurses, the AHS Community Paramedics, and the Rosedale Hospice for their unwavering care and support. Their compassion and gentle ways with Carole were greatly appreciated.
