Lyle Konanz Obituary

We are sad to announce that on Tuesday June 19, 2018, Lyle George Konanz found peace after a sudden and brief medical event. Lyle was deeply loved by his wife of 23 years, Lynn; their daughter, Davona; siblings, Karen (Gerald), Shauna (Travis), Brad (Michelle); step-daughter, Jacklynn; family, and friends. He was surrounded by many of them at the time of his passing. Lyle was predeceased by his parents George and Shirley Konanz and many of his fur children.

Lyle was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, on May 9, 1962, to George (Porky) Konanz, and Shirley Konanz. He was raised in Balgonie, Saskatchewan, where he enjoyed the closeness of a small community. He grew up with a deep spiritual background and enjoyed many years as a member of the church youth group. Lyle pursued many sports during his lifetime, including curling, hockey, baseball, and his ultimate passion, golf. Lyle moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1997. He received a Kidney Transplant in 2004 and was given a renewed gift of life and hope. From that moment forward, he lived every day to the fullest, enjoying travels to Idaho with Lynn for their golf excursions, various cruises throughout the Caribbean, and the unforgettable adventure to Australia with his greatest pride and joy, his daughter, Davona.

Lyle had the softest spirit, which translated into his love for all animals, specifically the several cats and dogs he raised and cared for over the years. In 2006, Lyle begun volunteering with special needs individuals and was named “Volunteer of the Year”, by the Best Friends Club. In 2007, Lyle started driving a school bus for special needs children with Southland Transportation, where he remained employed until his passing. His picture is proudly hung as “Best Bus Driver Ever” in more than one school hallway.

Lyle will forever be in the hearts and memories of all who knew him. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday June 28, 2018, at 1:00PM at Evan J. Strong Funeral Services (5502 2 Street SW. Calgary, Alberta).

In leu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, HOPE Program, Humane Society, or AARCS.

“On the wings of an Angel, let him rise to the heavens towards health, happiness, peace, and eternal life”.
