Louise Veronica Rodrigues

It is with great sadness that the family of Louise (Louisa) Veronica Rodrigues announces her passing after a brave battle with multiple illnesses on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the age of 83 years.
Louise was born in Belgaum, India July 9, 1934. After several years teaching primary school in Lucknow and Nagpur, Louise moved to Kampala, Uganda where she continued her teaching career with the Agha Khan school.
Louise married her husband Wilfred Rodrigues (predeceased in 2010) and together with their sons, Savio, Cedric, and Selwyn (predeceased in 1994), migrated to Canada, settling in Winnipeg and then Calgary where Louise had a long career with the University of Calgary retiring in 1995.
While in Calgary, Louise was a key member of the Goan community through the years, and was a strong advocate for Goan culture in Calgary. She was active in several roles, including President of the Goan Association of Calgary.
Louise loved to travel and took every opportunity to explore new lands. It was this love of travel that her children were fortunate to inherit from her. Louise also had a passion for entertaining family and friends with her many culinary talents.
In addition to sons Savio and Cedric, Louise will be fondly remembered by grandchildren, Alisha, Ethan, and Miranda. She will also be missed by many nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, and extended family and dear friends. Louise was a pillar of knowledge, comfort, and support to her family and dear friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. We will always carry Mom's memory in our hearts.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at St. Luke's Catholic Church (corner of Northmount Drive and Northland Drive NW) on Monday, August 21, 2017 at 7:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke's Catholic Church (corner of Northmount Drive and Northland Drive NW) on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 11:00 am.
