Susan was born April 12, 1959 in Zanzibar spending her younger years in Tanzania before moving to Newfoundland. There she attended Memorial University and completed her Masters. Susan loved the Lord and was first introduced to Him at Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. She loved listening to scriptures and grew in her knowledge of the Lord at Faith Bible Chapel, where she met Daryl in 1983. They were married three years later on August 23, 1996.
She was independent and believed in lifelong learning. After moving out West in 1999, she went back to school and became a Pharmacy Technician. Daryl and Susan have three children, Rebecca, Jonathan (Liz), and Benjamin. Her first grandchild, Selah, is due in February. Susan was constantly encouraging her children and delighting in their accomplishments. She made sure she was at every recital, game, competition...an ever-present mom to her children. As someone who believed in the importance of family, she cherished the time she spent with them playing board games, sports, watching movies and travelling. With an incredible depth for kindness, compassion and hospitality, she built lifelong relationships. It was this hospitable nature which led to her open-door policy. She was always concerned about the welfare of others and would do what she could to help, whether it involved time, or money. She was grateful and thankful for the generosity of people, who helped her along the way.
Her love for travel took her on family cruises in the Caribbean to adventures in New Zealand. She was very creative, hand painting landscapes that captured her imagination. She was able to share this through various volunteering events. Her hobbies included the mountains, evening walks, photography, Lego, and acquiring collectables.
On May 4, 2018, Susan was diagnosed with aggressive lymphoma. Despite undergoing multiple cycles of chemo and a stem cell transplant her lymphoma returned. Treatment was unsuccessful, and surrounded by her family, she went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2019. She will be dearly missed by Daryl, Rebecca, Jonathan, Liz and Ben, as well as the many lives she touched throughout her life.
