Karen Grace Harty (nee: Christoffel) passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at the age of 62 years at Foothills Country Hospice in Okotoks. She was born to the late John and Eleanor Christoffel (nee: Assman) on August 1, 1956, in Wolsley, SK.
Karen moved to Nanton, Alberta in 1977, where she became an involved member of her community. She worked for the town of Nanton for 25 years before moving to Okotoks in 2004, to pursue her passion for health and wellness and returning to college in Calgary to complete a Clinical Herbalist Degree. Karen had a passion for helping people, and she dedicated the last 15 years to inspiring and supporting others to live a meaningful life through personal development, health, and wellness coaching. She volunteered in her local community and was an active member of Toastmasters in Calgary.
Karen is survived by her husband, Tim Harty; as well as her children, Amy Rittwage (Kitchen), Joel Harty (Esther Barros-Harty) and Breawna Harty (Ryan Tent). Karen is also survived by her two beautiful grandchildren, Aaron and Addison Rittwage, who she loved with all her heart. Karen's love and compassionate spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held this Spring to honour Karen's memory. The family wish to extend their sincere gratitude to all those who provided emotional and financial support during this difficult time. Special thanks to the care teams at South Health Campus and Foothills Country Hospice for the loving and compassionate care they provided to Karen and her family.
