John David Kincaid Brisbin

Mr. John David Kincaid Brisbin died peacefully on November 17, 2019 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 82 years. John was born on June 4, 1937 in Ludington, Michigan to John Francis and Olivia Perkins Brisbin.

He graduated from Michigan State University in 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and the University of Michigan in 1960 with a degree in Music Education. He married Margot Rae (nee Jackson) in 1959. John spent his career sharing his love of music with others through his outstanding abilities as a horn player but even more significantly as a teacher and band director. Hundreds of John’s students went on to enjoy a lifetime of music due to his teaching, mentorship and direction. John had the opportunity to teach at many schools with the highlights being H.B. Beal Secondary School (London, Ontario) and Senator Riley High School (High River, Alberta).

John is survived by his former wife Margot, his three sons; Thomas, Daniel, and Kenneth, and their families. He was preceded in death by his son Craig David. Sharing in this loss is John's brother, James Brisbin and family in Ontario.

A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 2:00 PM at St. Paul's Anglican Church (7 Sunmills Green SE Calgary, Alberta). Rev. Fergus Tyson will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate John's life. A small reception will follow.
