John Joseph MacDonald

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Joseph MacDonald, a beloved husband, cherished father, adored grandfather and great grandfather and much-loved uncle. John passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 27, 2019 at the age of 87 years.

He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, and one granddaughter. John is survived by Joan, the love of his life for the past 65 years;  his five children, Greg (Carole), Diane (Doug), Karen (Rick), Mary-Joan (Cary), and Chris (Dominique); five grandchildren, Stephanie, Marc, Alec, Angelique and David; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

John was born in Toronto, Ontario. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted family man. He laughed easily, was a great storyteller, and an incessant tease. A man of great faith and integrity, John saw the best in people and was always ready with a kind word, sage advice, or to lend a hand. John’s life’s work was in construction, which he enjoyed immensely. It allowed him the privilege to mentor and befriend many individuals throughout his career.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, doctors and support staff of South Health Campus and Foothills Country Hospice, who tirelessly and lovingly cared for our Dad during the past 2 months. Their compassion, care and kindness will not be forgotten.
