Jeremias Cacdac Obituary

Jeremias, age 74, died from the complications of a brain aneurysm at the Foothills Medical Center in Calgary, on Thursday September 27, 2018.

 He was born on September 15, 1944, in San Juan, Philippines, to Paulino Flores Cacdac and Felicidad Marzo Cacdac. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Caesar. He is survived by his wife; his two sons, Christopher, and Paul Jerome (Joan); his grandchildren, Jacob Timothy, Alexander James, and Anjelica Corrine; sisters Natividad, Clemencita, and Teresita; as well as many nieces and nephews, particularly Maria Louisa whom he treated as his own. 

Jeremias graduated from Saint Louis University, Baguio City, Philippines, majoring in Economics. Following graduation, he became a professor of Economics at Baguio University where he met a student, Presentacion Calonge Nalupa, who soon became his wife. Their marriage endured 47 years. 

“Batching” and his family immigrated to Canada in 1981. They settled in Calgary where he did various jobs. He loved working with his hands as he made furniture. 

Jeremias’ main traits were his honesty, professionalism and pride in his work, and his unending devotion and dedication to family life. At home, he also loved to cook adobo and stir fry. 

Christian in affiliation, his spare time was spent reading the Bible and Daily Bread. His favourite bible verse is Psalms 23. He was a golf enthusiast and his musical interests included playing the harmonica and guitar.
