Jenny passed peacefully: survived by her two children, Patty Bretin and David Lazarowych. Jenny emigrated to Canada from the Ukraine in 1939, settling in Winnipeg together with her parents and siblings. She married: relocating to Calgary in 1962. Always a hard worker: most of her working years with the Hudson Bay Company. Retirement brought ample time to join in the growing of garden flowers in her daughter's greenhouse business while also being close at hand for her grandchildren, Andrew and Kelsey Bretin, and Steven Lazarowych. Jenny's summer months saw annual visits by her sister and lifelong friend, Sylvia Rudyk (Hajduk) and husband, Walter. Jenny embraced every opportunity to travel - many coach tours stateside, a cruise to Alaska and a family Christmas in the Caribbean. The highlight of her retirement travels was a trip to her childhood home in Ukraine to meet her many relatives. As aging began to slow her down, her family created a time of loving care and support; a small gift for someone who spent a lifetime putting her own needs second to those of others. A special thank you to the health care community who seamlessly responded with dutiful attention. An informal gathering of friends and family will be held on the main lawn of Reader Rock Garden (corner of McLeod Trail and 25 AVE SE), Thursday Aug 17, between the hours of 2:00PM and 4:00p.m. All are welcome. Jenny will be inurned at St. Mary's Cemetery alongside her husband Bill (Wasyl) Lazarowych. Nothing loved is ever lost, and she was loved so much.
