Jane Marie Zolotas

The family of Jane Zolotas wish to announce her peaceful passing, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, November 23, 2019, at the age of 70 years.

Jane was born in Edson, Alberta on August 21, 1949.  She was predeceased by Theodore (Ted) Zolotas, her devoted husband of 47 years. Jane is survived by her loving children, Melanie, Evyenia, Christina (Wilber), Peter (Samantha), and her beautiful grandchildren, Thanasi, Theo, Lucia, Anna, Nicholas, Dominic and Theodoros. She also leaves behind her brothers Mike (Joan), Gary (Susan) and John (Tanya), as well as many nieces and nephews. Jane was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Anne Zezel; her sister Deanna Elgert; and her cherished son-in-law Victor Alefantis.

Jane grew up in Robb, Alberta, where she enjoyed eating huckleberries, “borrowing” horses to ride bareback, playing hockey and bowling. She also enjoyed drawing and was an avid sports fan. Jane moved to Red Deer, where she met Theodore, the love of her life. In 1979, they moved to Calgary where they began a beautiful life together, raising their four children. Jane and Ted were the owners of Partners Pub & Grill since 1987, where many special friendships were developed. Through their hard work and devotion to family, they provided a great life for their children. Jane loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally. She was known for her kind heart, loyalty, intellect, humour and strength.

Jane was a great listener and always helped anyone in need. She was the most selfless individual, who put her husband and children first.  She loved cooking for her family (pancakes, pedaheh, tiropites) which warmed our stomachs with pure goodness.  Jane is once again in the arms of her true love and has now found peace. She will be forever in our hearts.

Funeral Service will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church (1 Tamarac Crescent S.W.) on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Peter Rougas and The Very Rev. Dimitrios Rougas, Presiders. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Reception to follow the graveside service at St. Demetrios Greek Community Hall.
