Ivor Bruce McNamee of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the age of 85 years. Bruce grew up on a family farm, located in Cayley, Alberta. He was a reservist in the 137 Calgary Highlanders during the Korean conflict, and a proud 40-year member of Centennial Branch 285 Legion. At the same time, he pursued a career in banking. After a short 4 years, he decided to leave the world of commerce. Bruce decided to try the oil and gas industry in seismic exploration. During this time, he realized his love for entrepreneurship where he became owner and operator of Allied Supplies and Services for the next 37 years, up until February 8, 2017. He worked alongside his best friend and companion, Heather Hanna. Bruce was an avid football fan, and was a fan of the Calgary Stampeders and Seattle Seahawks. Bruce loved to travel. Some of his most memorable vacations included travelling across Canada, as well as to Las Vegas, Trinidad, cruises in Alaska, and Panama; But his absolute favorite destination was the lake. Bruce is survived by his children, Dale McNamee (Brenda), Colleen Archer (Paul Whittle); grandchildren, Charlene, Casey, Damien, Mathew, Colton, and Tiffany; three great grandchildren, and his beloved brother, "George" Murray McNamee. A celebration of life will be held on February 27, 2017, at Centennial Branch 285 Legion, (9202 Horton Road, Calgary, Alberta) at 2:00pm.
