Iola Mae Turner

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Iola Mae Turner on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the age of 94 years old. She was a beloved Daughter, Sister, and Auntie. Iola was born on September 6, 1924 in Donatville, Alberta, though she spent most of her life in Calgary. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Ray, Stanley, Savanther, Jenny, and Nora. Iola is survived by her brother, Vaness Turner; niece Suzanne McGee; nephew David Turner and other family members.

She was a very strong, kind, and thoughtful woman. Iola lived life on her own terms, which meant being on her own for most of it. She spent the last nine years of her life at the Bethany Care Centre. Even though she lost her eyesight in later years, she still got around on her own and was fiercely independent. Iola had a great sense of humor and enjoyed having a good laugh. She will be greatly missed, especially by her nephew, David Turner. David was her constant companion and protector. He made sure Iola had whatever she needed and spent many hours at the home visiting her. She will continue to be loved in death as she was in life.
