Helen Theresa Reiser (nee' Kramer)

It is with great sadness and grace we announce the passing of our dear mother Helen Theresa (Kramer) Reiser on August 10, 2019 at the age of 92 years old.

Helen was born in Cadar, Romania and immigrated to Canada to begin a new life, with her older brother Frank and her parents Franz and Theresia Kramer.  Settling in Montreal for her childhood before relocating to Alberta and residing in Edmonton and moving to Calgary in 1984. As a successful single mother to Dianne and Matthew, she ensured they never went without, working two full time jobs and a part-time one on weekends, eventually retiring from her career with Imperial Oil in 1992.

Helen always found strength and inspiration in her Catholic faith, which guided much of her life.  She was an avid volunteer at St. Luke’s Parish, Pastoral Care, the CWL, a compassionate friend to many, as well as an honorary Grandmother. Helen always welcomed people in and her door was always open, she was happy with people around and always gave unconditional love.

Predeceased by both her parents and infant sister Catherine, she is survived by her loving children Dianne and Matthew, brother Frank, numerous family and friends.

Many thanks to Dr. Andrea Cullingham and the wonderful staff of the Chaparral Unit at the AgeCare Midnapore, who took such excellent care of Helen.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (corner of Northmount Drive and Northland Drive NW, Calgary) on Friday August 16, 2019 at 11:00am. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Graveside service at Queens Park Cemetery.

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the St. Luke’s Catholic Church Building Fund.
