Heaven rejoices today, as Harold has gone home sweet home, to his Lord and saviour. Predeceased by his parents Peter & Mary Scherle, Brother “Jackie” & Sister Gladys(How). Those he leaves to remember him are his Brother Richard & Sister Elaine(Schindel), Harold’s precious wife Freda, daughter Debbie (Scherle-Sauer), son-in-law Randy, as well as his grand-dogs Casey and Indiana, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Harold loved farming. His stress relief was getting out on the field with his tractor. He worked for Sears for 34 years before retiring in 1991. Harold had an endearing way with the young people he hired. Some of them helped him on the farm doing odd jobs and he built many friendships that lasted a lifetime. He loved camping with his wife and daughter and always made a point of making sure he had quality time with them. Harold and his wife Freda moved to Strathmore, Alberta in 2004 and made many lasting friendships there.
In his earlier years, Harold was very active in his church and served on the church counsel. He loved tinkering in the garage, working on cars and helping others with theirs. He was a handyman and had a “farmer’s fix” for almost anything. Harold enjoyed getting together with friends and entertaining. He was musical, playing the steel guitar and fiddle, Harold loved Country Music. One lesser known fact is that Harold could yodel before his voice changed.
The family would like to thank the nurses and health care aids at Agecare Seton 5th Floor, Bowview Manor, South Health Campus and Agecare Midnapore for their diligence and care of Harold. There will be no funeral at the family’s request. His ashes will be spread at a later date.
